NZ Windfarms Ltd is a long term specialist wind farm owner and operator, with its revenue coming from the sale of sustainably generated electricity from its Te Rere Hau wind farm in the Tararua Ranges outside of Palmerston North. The wind farm has 97 turbines with a capacity of 48.5MW producing sufficient electricity to power approximately 20,000 households a year.

As a part of the ongoing documentation of Windflow Technologies’ development of its revolutionary torque limiting gearbox, Real pictures was asked to record the installation of the company’s turbines on a newly developed NZ Windfarms Ltd site.

This wind farm was the first in the world to feature Windflow’s two bladed turbines, and has become a show case for this newly developed wind turbine technology.
